Recruiting for Uttoxeter Heart of Oak Morris

Morris Dancing, as an English form of performance dance entertainment, has been arround in one form or another for at least 600 years - probably longer. The Uttoxeter Morris Men want to keep it going for another 600 years. To do this we need new blood - new recruits. This means YOU! You can dance the English Morris!

There is no doubt that Morris Dancing is fun to watch and even more fun to do!  If you are between the ages of 10 to 100, you can learn to dance and the Uttoxeter Morris hold practice sessions between September and March every year for existing and new members. We will teach you and coach you in all the movements and steps.

Uttoxeter Morris intends to promote and recruit new Morris dancers and will be:

  • Recruiting men to add to our own Morris team
  • Holding practice nights for ANYONE who would like to learn Morris as an interesting keep-fit activity or who wants to dance with ourselves or any other Morris team..
  • We will be talking to schools and groups of young people, such as Guides and Brownies etc.
  • We will be developing our literature and information to inform and interest our wider audience.
  • Giving talks and lectures (with demonstrations) to any interested groups (Round Tables, WI, Church groups etc).

Anyone who is interested in any of these activities, who would like to talk to us about giving a presentation, a booking or a Morris demonstration, or would like some literature, please contact Mac McCoig on mac.mccoig@uttoxetermorrismen.org.uk

Please note that any person wishing to take part in any activities promoted by the Uttoxeter Morris who is under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult relative or guardian.
